What is DataJam North East?
DataJam North East is a two-day event bringing data, digital and service design teams together to make a real difference to real issues affecting the North East.
It is One Team Government in action. The start of an ongoing collaboration between public sector, academia and beyond guided by these principles.
Concentrating on three key themes of Health, Skills and Child attainment, DataJam NorthEast will demonstrate the potential for improving life in the region when data, collaboration and actionable outcomes are the focus.
DWP Digital, Newcastle University, North East Local Enterprise Partnership and local authorities would like to welcome you to the Urban Sciences Building, Newcastle University on 17 and 18 September 2018.
How will it work?
At DataJam North East, multidisciplinary teams will use a combination of data-led sessions and unconference topics such as local transport to share ideas and build real, data-led products that will make a difference to people’s lives.
They’ll use open and licensed data sources and agile service design skills to design solutions in areas such as skill matching, child attainment and health in the North East.
DataJam North East will:
- help people come together, collaborate and use data to tackle issues affecting local communities
- encourage closer cooperation between public, private and academic organisations
- identify potential data sources to tackle problems
- show the value of using open data
Who’s it for?
DataJam North East is an opportunity to work in self-formed teams with others that believe using data and digital capability in an open and collaborative way can improve everyday life.
This means we’re looking for delivery specialists, data scientists, data analysts, user researchers, product owners, and business analysts from central & local government, universities, local charities and the private sector.
Why should people attend?
DataJam North East will put collaboration, data and design at the heart of delivering answers to complex problems affecting the North East region. It’s a great practical way to help make the North East better for everyone and it’s just the beginning.
