Overall Purpose of the Group

To catalyse regional cyber resilience initiatives that will (1) create cyber resilience across the regional economy, (2) create highly-skilled jobs within the cyber security industry, and (3) enable wider economic growth within the region’s digital economy.

Key Aims & Objectives

    • to make the NE a safe place to do business;
    • to encourage private sector investment;
    • to facilitate innovation across Government, business and academia;
    • to encourage start-ups from the region’s universities and colleges;

Results achieved so far/Current Projects

    • Creation of a regional cyber security strategy (ongoing)[in consultation with DCMS)
    • Creation of an Innovation Super Network across Government, business & academia (ongoing)[in partnership with NELEP]
    • 6 Cyber Essentials training days in H116 (Feb 16-April 16)[in partnership with NERCCU and supported by Universities of Sunderland, Newcastle and Teesside]
