Sellick Partnership – Member Spotlight

  • Give us a brief overview of your organisation.

Sellick Partnership is a market-leading professional services recruitment specialist committed to providing trusted and expert recruitment services to everybody we work with.

In Newcastle, we have a team that is dedicated to the ICT & Digital Technology industry, placing candidates into a range of roles across the sector – from entry-level to executive positions. We work in partnership with our clients and candidates in order to contribute to the North East’s economic growth and success.

We have been placing high-quality candidates in organisations across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors for years on a permanent, temporary and interim basis.

Our collaborative approach and commitment to providing an outstanding level of service means we add value at every step of the recruitment process, whether you are looking for a job yourself or recruiting for your business.

Alongside our Newcastle office, we also have recruitment teams in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, and Derby.

  • What are the benefits of basing your business in the North East?

As the North East is such a fast-growing tech hub, it became vital for us to have a presence here some years ago. However, we found ourselves organically recruiting for more roles within the tech and digital industry, we officially set up our ICT & Digital Technology specialism in 2021, headed up by Senior Manager Adam Burgess.

There are many large organisations – both public and private – that are relocating to the North East to be a part of this exciting community. In addition, there is a high concentration of further and higher education establishments that are developing and nurturing excellent talent.

Having an office in the Newcastle is also a lot more cost effective from a business point of view than having all our operations located in the Midlands and South of England.

  • How does your organisation strive to make a positive impact on the local community, and why is this important to your overall mission?

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy stems naturally from our core values – and we are passionate about how our business can make a real, positive difference to the environment around us. We work with local and national charities, raising funds and supporting causes very close to our heart.

We help people find their dream career every day, but also recognise that it is equally as important to help others and support the communities where we work.

Sellick Partnership have partnered with local housing associations and education establishments to provide recruitment workshops. We recently attended Newcastle College to teach students about current employer expectations in the workplace, to prepare them for life after education.

At Sellick Partnership we have a dedicated team of Charity Champions which helps execute all of our charitable work. In the North East this includes supporting mental health charity, If U Care Share, through our annual football tournament and giving back to local food banks. We recently delivered food and Easter eggs as part of a company-wide initiative.

  • What are your hopes for the future of the North East’s tech and digital industry?

We are passionate and driven to be involved in ensuring businesses in the North East have access to the right talent through effective partnership and collaboration. This includes working with clients that are as passionate as us about adopting an inclusive recruitment approach, allowing fair access to opportunities for all candidates.

We hope that our region can access and maximise as much funding as possible to grow and further develop the tech and digital industry, in order to attract the very best talent. We want to help promote the region as an incredible place to put down roots and enjoy a successful career.

  • What are your business objectives for the next 12 months?

We aim to grow our client base organically through partnering with organisations that have similar core values to our own, in turn, helping them to attract the very best talent.

Following on from a recent inclusive recruitment training programme that was delivered to our Diversity Champions, we will continue to work with both clients and candidates to provide guidance on EDI recruitment processes to ensure there are fair and equal opportunities for all.

We have our sights set on expanding our own team, to provide the best service possible to our ever-evolving client and candidate base, covering all aspects of tech and digital disciplines.

Finally, we will of course continue to give back to the wider community through fundraising events and other CSR activities.

  • Why did you join Dynamo?

We joined Dynamo to expand our professional network and to work collaboratively with industry-leading organisations and top tech talent.

We want to play our part as a recruitment partner to work together and see the tech sector in our region thrive by matching the best candidates with natural fit opportunities.

It just so happens that those networking opportunities come in the form of events such as the Dynamo Dinner that we attended recently. This was the first event that we had attended through Dynamo and what a success! Hopefully, there will be many more to come.
