Cabinet Minister hails MSP’s ‘world-leading’ technology

Cabinet Minister Liz Truss has praised the “world-leading” work of a Northumberland software business which is helping to revolutionise traditional manufacturing processes in companies around the globe.

Ms Truss, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, praised the innovation of MSP, which has seen it win work internationally with major names including BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney and multiple leading Formula 1 teams.

During a visit to MSP’s site in Alnwick, Ms Truss learnt about the company’s unique products, NC-Checker and NC-PerfectPart, which are helping manufacturers to eliminate error from their processes, increase productivity by up to 100 percent, and make huge cost and time savings – including saving one Formula 1 team 9.5 hours on its parts set-up.

Following a tour of the site by MSP founders Peter Hammond and Tony Brown, Ms Truss said: “It has been brilliant to see the world-leading technology that is being developed here in Alnwick by the incredibly skilled team at MSP. Developing this kind of software can only make British manufacturing even more fantastic.”

Ms Truss’s visit to Northumberland also saw her host a round-table discussion at MSP’s headquarters with a number of prominent local business figures, as part of the Treasury’s spending review to plan for the next Budget and beyond. A number of entrepreneurs and stakeholders from across Northumberland shared their views on Government spending priorities for the county in 16 key areas including healthcare, education, environment, pensions and transport.

Peter, who founded MSP with Tony in 2002, said: “We were delighted to welcome Liz Truss to MSP in what was an inspiring visit for our whole team. It is fantastic to be able to showcase what we do to a senior Government figure, demonstrating how our technology is truly helping to revolutionise the traditional world of manufacturing, and we are humbled by her praise for our work.

“It gives us great satisfaction to show this standard of innovation in software technology being developed in Northumberland – this is a wonderful part of the world which we are only too keen to shout about. The round-table discussion with the Chief Secretary was thought provoking and provided a forum to discuss all that is great about our region, but also what is needed for companies like ours to be able to continue to thrive and for families to prosper. We are grateful for her time and visit.”
