Building on the success of the Northumbria Enterprise and Business Support scheme (NEBS2), Northumbria University has announced plans to expand on its existing graduate internship funding activity to support a new option of Summer Internships available between June – September 2022.
This funding activity is again aimed at trading SMEs in Tyne and Wear and Northumberland and further supports the growth of small to medium sized businesses within the region. Eligible organisations can apply for a grant to recruit an undergraduate Northumbria University student for a Summer Internship of between 8-13 weeks.
Summer Internships are an excellent opportunity to capitalise on the skills of a Northumbria student, one who can apply the theoretical learning fresh from academic studies to fulfil a skills gap or undertake a specific, timely project. The Summer Internship is a low risk and effective opportunity to experience the benefits of recruiting a student with the potential of identifying a candidate for future longer-term opportunity such as placement, part-time work, or permanent graduate employment.
Gordon Dodd, Chief Strategy Officer at Aircards, a previous beneficiary of the existing NEBS scheme highlights the value of welcoming Northumbria talent into a business. “The team at Aircards were delighted to be included in the Northumbria University internship programme. Simon Elliot has made a vital contribution to the continued growth of our Newcastle located augmented reality and immersive experience business, involved immediately with delivery on key client projects.”
Eligible SMEs can apply for a grant of up to £2,025 towards the salary of a summer intern on a full time, paid internship from 8 – 13 weeks. This is offered on a minimum annual salary of £18,000 per annum with funding provided pro-rata. For further information on this new funding please contact email@example.com
